I’m sure just about everyone has accidentally left their laundry in the washing machine a bit too long. I do it just about every week. I know. I know. I’m an awful person.
I now make it a point every month to wash my washing machine. Yeah. I know that sounds a little funny. I wash my washing machine? The machine that always has soap and occasionally bleach in it?
Well think about it. You’re constantly putting dirty clothes into the machine. Yes the machine is cleaning your clothes but what’s cleaning your machine??
To keep my laundry and machine smelling fresh I use the following recipe once a month.
Ingredients
1 cup distilled white vinegar
1 cup baking soda
20 drops Melaleuca essential oil
20 drops lemon essential oil
Method
With your washer empty of all clothes, add the baking soda directly to the basin.
Add the essential oils to the measured vinegar, stir and add to the liquid soap part of your washer.
Set your washer to a normal load and forget about it!
It’s that easy.
We all know that vinegar is a great all natural cleaning agent. It also gets rid of any build up in your washer from oils, soaps, and hard water.
Melaleuca oil is natural anti fungal and anti bacterial.
Lemon is cleansing. The citric acid is going to help cut down on build up and leave a fresh clean scent!
