All Natural Toilet Bowl Cleaner

I’ve become more conscious lately about what we put down our pipes. We have a septic system and if you know anything about a septic system you know that eventually that water leeches out into the ground. I’ve decided to cut back on the amount of harmful chemicals we put down the drains. I’ll talk more about that in a future blog post.

Today I made my own all natural toilet bowl cleaner and it worked really really well!

We have well water, and due to the well water being high in minerals and calcium we get rings and build up in our toilets. As you can see it doesn’t exactly look the best.

I threw together the toilet bowl cleaner in less than five minutes and cleaned my toilets beautifully.

True. It’s not 100% perfect, but it’s MUCH better. I don’t ever intend to toss out all chemicals all together. Some cleaning products are necessary for sanitation purposes, but for now I have this all natural cleaner I can use between deep cleanings of my bathroom.

Ingredients

1 cup of baking soda

1/4 cup Citric acid

15 drops of DōTERRA’s Purify essential oil blend

1 tablespoon Castile soap

Method

In a mason jar I combined all the ingredients and gave them a good shake. To the toilet bowl I poured in a generous amount until it bubbles up. Be careful to not use too much or the bubbles will overflow. After waiting a few seconds I scrubbed away with my toilet bowl brush. Finally I flushed the bubbles away to reveal a shiny clean toilet!
